HC Edmonton Goes Back-to-Back in 15U Division

Mar. 24, 2025

For the second straight year, HC Edmonton has captured the JPHL’s 15U championship—this time needing the full three games to get past a gritty Langley Hockey Academy squad.

Last year’s title came in dramatic fashion with an overtime winner from Brock McDougall. This time around, special teams played a starring role in a back-and-forth series that saw both teams flex their offensive firepower.

Game 1: Khullar Sparks a Comeback

Langley struck first in Game 1, jumping out to a 2-0 lead. But a five-minute major penalty turned the tide. HC Edmonton lit the lamp four times during the extended power play—Krish Khullar factoring in on three of them—as they roared back for a 6-3 win to open the series.

“I know the boys count on me, and they needed me to come up big,” Khullar said post-game. “I just wanted to do that and get this win.”

Game 2: Langley Responds

Game 2 was a seesaw battle for much of the night. Edmonton once again used a five-minute power play to take the lead, but Langley answered on their own man-advantage, scoring twice on a five-on-three opportunity to claim a 5-4 win and force a deciding Game 3.

Game 3: Arcand Stands Tall

After facing 88 shots in the first two games, HC Edmonton goaltender Jameson Arcand was running on fumes—but he had just enough left in the tank. In a more disciplined, tightly contested final game, Arcand stopped 24 of 26 shots as his team clamped down defensively and poured in four unanswered goals after a 1-1 first period to secure the championship.

“I’m tired and exhausted right now, having like 40 shots a game against Langley, it’s hard,” said Arcand, who was named Finals MVP for HC Edmonton. “We had a bad game two… but in game three we just came out hard.”

Langley’s Charlie Pena earned MVP honours for his team, recording three goals and an assist in the series.
