14U Northstars Hockey Academy
Bison stampede
The Bison came storming into Nisku and came within a goal of leaving with all 8 points.
Northstars Hockey Academy won their first three games and lost in overtime to Lloydminster on Sunday.
You won’t find a Northstars player in the top ten of scoring, but you will find a team that has gelled and is in sync heading into the Bauer Winter Championships. They gave up just three goals in their three victories.
The weekend run vaulted them to 10 wins.
14U Langley Hockey Academy
Absolute heater
Sunday, October 12th. That’s the last time that Langley Hockey Academy lost a game.
Since then, it’s been nine in a row, and eight of them have been by two goals or more. That is the definition of a heater.
Their last loss came against the Surrey Eagles Hockey Academy, a team they beat to start the season and barring a Bauer Winter Championships game, won’t face off again until the final game of the regular season.
Langley currently sits four points up on Surrey in the Pacific conference.
15U Titans Hockey Union
Remember the Titans
A slow start might have you wondering, but here they come.
After 2 wins on the weekend, including beating the top club in HC Edmonton, also their biggest rival, the Titans looked like a team playing for each other on the weekend.
They started things off with a 7-2 victory over Calgary on Friday night and then a come-from-behind win over HC Edmonton on Sunday.
Carson Klassen had four points on Friday and scored a key goal on the power play to keep the comeback alive on Sunday. HC Edmonton led 3-0 almost five minutes into the second period before the Titans started chipping away and finally pulling in front for the only time when Xavier Wujcik scored the GWG. Three of the Titans' four goals came on the man advantage.
18U Coquitlam HC
Malcolm the man
It was an Epic outing for Coquitlam pipe man Malcolm Katuski on Saturday night as he stared down the visiting Epic Hockey Academy from Ontario. Katuski made 41 saves in the 3-0 shutout, including 18 in the opening period and 16 in the final frame.
His best came on a breakaway from center ice for Epic’s Tommy Kalogiannis, where Katuski shot out the right pad to keep the shutout intact.
Eight different Coquitlam skaters had a point as the team effort got the job done.
Coquitlam is comfortably in third place in the Pacific conference, but only four points back of first-place Langley HA.
